‘Do you need a high- quality training course regarding Missing from Care and what that means?

Does your team need to understand the reasons why vulnerable children and young people go missing? Do they fully understand the regulations and legislation that protect? Are they up to speed with the reporting and recording processes and the links to local protocols? How is risk assessment linked to the way returns to the setting are managed?

Introduction

When a child or young person goes missing from care it can be a distressing and upsetting time for everybody involved     including family, friends and support teams.

This training course considers what is meant by the term ‘missing from care’, considers the different ‘opportunities’ when young people may be more likely to go missing, the reasons why and states the procedure which all organisations need to follow for dealing with this situation.

Benefits of Attending

This training course considers how organisations must ensure confidentiality and data protection is maintained and how to deal with issues including working with the police and dealing with enquiries from the press. It considers the process for planning when a young person is found and will be returning to their care and how the role of an ‘appropriate adult’ may relate to cases of missing children and young people.

Parent and Child Fostering ‘Safer Parenting’ Advanced Workshop for Foster Carers and Supervising Social Workers (4 hours) This workshop is aimed at Foster Carers who have previously attended Parent and Child Fostering Training either with us or elsewhere, although this is not an entry requirement. You will gain further knowledge on caring for babies who may be drug affected or are born with Foetal Alcohol Syndrome. We also discuss Shaken Baby Syndrome and learn about the tragic effects to an infant’s brain from just a few seconds of shaking.
